Hermes and Evri in Shopify

Show Hermes pickup points to German customers and Evri pickup points to British customers in the Shopify checkout, with home delivery and labels through vShip.

Hermes delivers to pickup points and to the door in Germany, and Evri does the same in the United Kingdom. In Pakkeshopper, one carrier entry covers both countries, so you set it up once.

What you get with Hermes and Evri in Pakkeshopper

  • Pickup points in the checkout. German customers pick a Hermes pickup point, and British customers pick an Evri pickup point, from a list or from a map with carrier-branded markers, with distance and opening hours. A list mode lets the buyer pick the point live. Read more about pickup points.
  • Home delivery. Add a home delivery method with its own price. Address validation checks for a house number and blocks the checkout until the address is corrected, which avoids carrier penalty fees.
  • Order confirmation. The Shopify order confirmation page shows the carrier logo and the chosen pickup point with address and opening hours, in 9 languages.
  • The pickup point on the order. Pakkeshopper writes the carrier, the delivery type and the pickup point to the _pakkeshopper_* order attributes and to the shipping line code, so your warehouse system can read it.
  • Labels through vShip. Map the shipping method to a vShip shipping profile, and Pakkeshopper books the label through vShip when you print from an order or in bulk. Print Agent can print the labels automatically.

Pakkeshopper does not track Hermes or Evri parcels. Return labels are available for GLS, Bring, DAO and PostNord, not for Hermes or Evri.

Shipping rules for Hermes and Evri methods

Germany and the United Kingdom usually need their own prices and free-shipping thresholds. In the shipping method editor you can:

  • Limit a method to Germany or to the United Kingdom with the destination country rule, and duplicate it with one click for the other country.
  • Show or hide a method by weight and order value.
  • Hide a method for specific products with product tags or product groups.
  • Place each method anywhere in the checkout list.

Discount codes are deducted from the order value before a free-shipping threshold is applied, so a customer does not get free shipping below the threshold. See the shipping rules and the guide to shipping to the Nordics and Germany.

Which plan do you need

Hermes and Evri are available on the Pro plan and higher. Pro costs $19 per month for 500 orders, then $0.02 per extra order, and includes all carriers and label printing. Product tag and customer tag filters are part of Max.

Your store also needs Shopify's Carrier Calculated Rates feature. Read how to get it in the Carrier Calculated Rates guide.

How to get started

  1. 1

Install Pakkeshopper and turn on Carrier Calculated Rates

Install Pakkeshopper from the Shopify App Store. Ask Shopify support to add Carrier Calculated Rates (third-party calculated shipping rates) to your store if you do not have it yet.

  2. 2

Add shipping methods with Hermes and Evri

Create a shipping method in the Pakkeshopper dashboard and choose Hermes / Evri as the carrier. Set the price, add rules for weight, order value or destination country, and map the method to a vShip shipping profile for labels.

  3. 3

    Test the checkout

Place a test order with a German address and one with a British address, and pick a pickup point in each. Shopify caches shipping rates for up to 24 hours, so change the house number or the cart contents to get fresh rates.
