Setup guide

Set up the warehouse app

From the download to the first printed label. Each step shows the screen that you see on the phone.

About 15 minutes

Have these ready

  • Pakkeshopper on the Max plan with the app add-on, or on Scale or Enterprise
  • An iPhone with iOS 16.4 or later, or an Android phone with Android 7.0 or later
  • A Brother QL label printer on your WiFi, or a printer on a computer with Print Agent
  • Access to the Pakkeshopper dashboard in Shopify
  1. Step 1

    Check your plan

The warehouse app is included in the Scale and Enterprise plans, and it is an add-on for $49 per month on the Max plan. It is not available on Pro.

The app turns on what your plan includes by itself. You do not need to ask us to turn it on.

    See the plans
  2. Step 2

    Get the app

iPhone: the app is in beta and is not in the App Store. Write to [email protected] with the address of your store. We send you a download link. Open it on the iPhone and install the app.

Android: open the Android page on the phone and tap "Download for Android". Open the file, and allow the install when Android asks.

    Open the Android page
  3. Step 3

Pair the phone with your store

Open the app and type the address of your store. Tap "Connect via Shopify" and sign in to Shopify in the sheet that opens. Check that the 4-letter code is the same on the phone and in the dashboard, and tap "Connect". The sheet closes by itself.

You can also open Fulfillment in the Pakkeshopper dashboard, choose "Pair new device", and scan the QR code with the phone. Or type the 6-digit code under "Enter a pairing code instead".

  4. Step 4

Allow the local network and the camera

The first time, the phone asks for permission to find devices on your local network and to use the camera. Tap Allow on both.

If you tapped "Don't Allow" on an iPhone, open Settings, Privacy & Security, Local Network, and turn on Pakkeshopper.

  5. Step 5

    Connect a printer

Brother QL: put the printer on the same WiFi as the phone. On the Printers screen, tap "Scan for printers", tap the printer and assign it as the label printer. Tap "Test" to print a test label.

Zebra and other printers: install Print Agent on a computer that prints to the printer. The printer then shows on the Printers screen under the name of the computer. Assign it as the label printer.

A document printer for A4 is optional. Assign it the same way.

    Download Print Agent
  6. Step 6

Choose how strict the app is

Under Picking policy on the Fulfillment page, choose if packers must confirm each unit, and if a barcode scan is the only way to confirm it. "Require the packer to read the order note before completing an order" is on from the start.

Under Pick groups, add views that match on Shopify order tags, for example Express or Gifts. You can also hide the built-in views.

  7. Step 7

    Create bins

A bin is a box or a tote that holds one order during a route. Create bins in the app. Each bin gets a name and a barcode, and the app prints the bin label on your label printer.

Stick the label on the bin. You only do this once.

  8. Step 8

    Ship your first order

Open the oldest order in the queue. Confirm each item with a tap or a scan, then use "Slide to print label". The label prints, and the order is fulfilled in Shopify.

On the "Scan & print" screen, you can also scan the barcode of an order or a bin. The label then prints in one step.

After the setup

Ways to work

Each way uses the same queue, the same printers and the same rules.

Pick a route with bins

On the Pick screen, select orders and scan a bin for each. Walk the route in shelf order and confirm each unit. At the packing desk, scan a bin on the "Scan & print" screen to print its label.

Batch picks

Open Batch picks to see the single-item orders grouped by product. Choose how many orders to take, confirm the product once, and slide to print all the labels.

Store pickup

Open the Pickup view. Mark the order ready for pickup. Shopify tells the customer, and the app prints the bag label.

Ship part of an order

When an item is not in stock, use "Ship part of this order" under the slide. The app prints a label for the items that you have.

Ship again with a new label

For a replacement or a lost parcel, open the fulfilled order and choose "Ship again with a new label". The app books a new parcel with a new tracking number.

Settings

What each setting does in the app

You find these settings on the Fulfillment page in the Pakkeshopper dashboard.

SettingIn the app
Confirm each unitThe order shows one row per unit. The print slide waits until every row is confirmed.
Scan to confirmThe barcode scanner is the only way to confirm a unit. A tap does nothing.
Read the order notePrinting, fulfilling and the ready-for-pickup mark wait until the packer marks the note as read. On from the start.
Pick groupsExtra views in the queue, matched on Shopify order tags.
Built-in viewsHide "All", "Single pick" or "Pickup" if you work from your own pick groups.

If something does not work

The app does not find my printer
Check that the printer and the phone are on the same WiFi, not a guest network. On an iPhone, check Settings, Privacy & Security, Local Network, Pakkeshopper. You can also add the printer by its IP address.
The app says that the shop is no longer paired
Someone removed the phone in the dashboard, or the pairing expired. Pair the phone again.
An order has no print button
The order has no supported carrier, or the carrier credentials are missing. Correct this in the Pakkeshopper dashboard.
